Our Story
As a young girl Stella Page could not stop doing pen-and-ink drawings of haute couture clothing. Her parents, an architect father and a high-fashion boutique mother, amazed by her elaborate illustrations, argued about whose artistic genes Stella had inherited. Tiny seed pearls sewn into the linings of evening gowns, fur-trimmed velvet high heels—where did she get these ideas, they wondered. All they knew was that she could design and make anything, from one-of-a-kind dresses to handbags and heels.
Stella Page also let others teach her—she followed her passion to the Fashion Institute for Design and Merchandising both in San Francisco and Los Angeles, completing her program in 1980.
Stella has traveled the world, deriving inspiration from everywhere she has been. The genius of Stella Page is how she blends the most celebrated art from every corner of the globe, throughout the centuries from ancient times to modern day. The appeal is timeless, classic, and contemporary, all at once.
After a man ran up to her sister, Shannon, in a restaurant, demanding to know “Where did you get that handbag?” Stella borrowed $300 and—voilal- Stella Page Design was born. Her first show at the California Mart in Los Angeles was an instant and uproarious success; and just 12 months later; Stella Page was flown to New York to be part of the California Designer Showcase at the prestigious Henri Bendel store on 5th Avenue. “They were selling more of my bags per day in their accessories department than any other item, so they threw me a party!”, says the designer.
Stella believes that art, creativity, and beauty are essential elements of a happy and serene life. It is because of this belief that Stella has made it her primary ambition to bring those qualities of imagination, whimsy, and luxury to you. To own one of Stella’s designs is to own a time-less collectible, one that you can incorporate into your wardrobe and into your life.
The Stella Page Design manufacturing facility is located in Moss Landing; overlooking the waters of the beautiful Monterey Bay. There, her staff of trained artisans create extraordinary handbags for extraordinary women as imagined, designed and inspired by Stella, as she maintains her urban lifestyle in Manhattan, New York.
